[google-cloud-sql-discuss] Re: Migrate Data from Microsoft SQL Server to Google Cloud SQL

Hello,

There is no tool currently in Google Cloud Platform that will do the migration from Microsoft SQL to MySQL. For this, I suggest to use any of the available public documentation that suits your needs to migrate from Microsoft SQL to MySQL (or Postgres). After you do this migration, you can follow this guide to import your data to Google CloudSQL MySQL. Notice that similar information is available for PostgreSQL by clicking on the proper tab situated below the title of the page aligned toward the right margin.

I would also like you to review the following sections of this documentation that is relevant to data migration operations into CloudSQL:

* Requirements for importing and exporting

* Best practices for importing and exporting

To address your second question, I won't be able to discuss the limitations between Microsoft SQL, MySQL or Postgres. I am confident that the FAQ and the documented features of CloudSQL should address the most immediate questions about Google CloudSQL. Let me know if you have other questions about Google CloudSQL.

Dear Friends

I am trying to find ways to migrate data from Microsoft SQL Server (hosted in the azure environment) to Google Cloud SQL (in GCP).

  1. 1) Is there any data migration tool?
  2. 2) What are the limitations of Google Cloud SQL compared to Microsoft SQL Server (I understand it is from MySQL and PostgreSQL models)?
