Re: [google-cloud-sql-discuss] Re: Exporting (via another instance) still going on after 20+ hours

It seems you are using Serverless Export feature. For long exports, it is recommended to try exporting smaller datasets at a time, and note that serverless export takes longer to do than a standard export, because it takes time to create the temporary instance. But if the export is stuck in operation, as Elliott mentioned, we recommend to contact the premium support or report it via the Issue Tracker so that we would be able to ding into the issue.

The db has been exported before before without issues, but this time, I saw a new feature to export using another instance, and chose it. I don't know if that has something to do with this.

I'm unable to do most things to this instance while the export runs.

[google-cloud-sql-discuss] Re: How enable pldbgapi in google console postgresql

Hello,

I understand you are inquiring about how to debug the Google Cloud PostgreSQL, perhaps by Installing the PL/pgSQL Debugger Extension (pldbgapi).

As per this documentation[1], the PL/pgSQL Debugger Extension (pldbgapi) is not one of the supported PostgreSQL extensions supported by CloudSQL. To debug CloudSQL[PostgreSQL], you should probably consider using Cloud Logging[2] or you can enable Query logs by configuring Database flags[3], please keep in mind that this may incur some charges.

Please go through the details shared in the articles and if you have any further questions, you can post them on this thread.

Re: [google-cloud-sql-discuss] SQL Server - .bak file import - "An unknown error occurred"

Hi Ausias,

As you mentioned that restore is getting failed even without starting so we can do two things here to dig down the issue.

1. Run below TSQL first to verify the backup (,bak) file.

RESTORE VERIFYONLY FROM DISK = C:\AdventureWorks.BAK
GO

2. Enable below Trace flags on session level to log more detailed information when you run the restore command.

3604,3004,3605, 3014,3213

But nothing about why it fails.

The storage usage increases from 0 to the 113G and drops right when it fails, which makes me believe that during that time it only copies the file.
The memory usage goes nowhere near to the instance limit.

I have tried:
  • To give the instance up to 600 GB of SSD storage.
  • To use the SQL Server 2017 Enterprise edition.
  • Use the command line to do the import.

I would appreciate any insight anyone can give me about why this is happening and about this "An unknown error occurred" error.

Many thanks!

[google-cloud-sql-discuss] Re: Read Replica replication - auth networks

Hello,

While attempting to replicate your issue, I assigned a authorized network to a Cloud PostgreSQL instance and then created a replica. Afterwards, I assigned a different authorized network to the replica and deleted the authorized network on the original. The results were that the replica kept the new authorized network and the original.

As you had a different experience can you provide the exact steps you took. As a note if you were to delete and then recreate the replica it would only have authorized network on the original.

[google-cloud-sql-discuss] Re: Cloud SQL MySQL8 crashes every day

Hi Elliott,
do you have any ideas why this is happening? Or how to inspect that behavior? I attached some images, showing stable resources for CPU and IO but a fluttering memory.
The reason for the decreasing memory is an automatic restart / crash, resulting in all our services loosing connection.

Yes, I have seen it. But the images do not provide that much value anyway. The first image would have shown that the memory usage is high but stable and the second image would have shown that the memory usage starts at around 3GB, increased during 1 or 2 days to the maximum and goes down again when mysql crashs.

The old server was at its limit but very stable. For example the memory usage was always very high but it never crashed:

The new server is a totally different story.

It crashes very often. The memory increases until it reaches the maximum and then the server crashes. In the logs we see nothing except a few bad queries that we had before and are about to optimize and the log output that mysql has been started.

We have no good idea and plan what to do at the moment.

[google-cloud-sql-discuss] Re: lamp stack, set the mysql server… log_bin=ON

Hi,

If I understand properly, you are attempting a replication (from ___, external? Which provider?) to Cloud SQL and you cannot turn on binary logs with Google.

Since Cloud SQL is a managed service, you will be restricted from certain accesses. For example, superuser is disabled and to turn on binlogs, you do it according to these[1] instructions.

If you have further issues after this, please link us the official article of the replication process at the source database. Without that, it's hard to tell if we are following standard procedure. From our end, the official procedure looks like this[2], make sure you're not missing any official steps from both providers.

[google-cloud-sql-discuss] About delete binary logs file on Cloud Sql

I have a question about binary log on Google Cloud Sql. Now that storage on Cloud SQL is constantly increasing, I want to delete the binary logs files. I have read the documentation about it, but it is not clear that when I disable the binary logs function, will the files be deleted immediately or have to wait for the next 7 days for the files to be deleted.

Thank you.
