MySQL connect error

Hi,

I'm trying to connect a PHP GAE app to Cloud SQL.

When the app tries to connect to the database it returns the error: "Could not connect: MySQL server has gone away"

The connection is using the standard MySQl connection.

Any ideas on what is causing this?
