Re: Google cloud SQL for #gcdc2013

If you are making a challenge then make it accessible to all of us like most challenges on the web are! I see google is hoping for some less economically developed countries like Africa, India or Latin America to submit their work.
How many people do you think own a credit card in those countries!?

I have few of my own OS projects and I contribute to lot's of others, believe me when I say so, among developers Cloud wise Microsoft is ahead of you in favor of developers
because they've learned from their mistakes, same mistakes that you maybe are now making by categorizing and pushing some of great developers away, potential entrepreneurs
that can be great and of good use to image of your company.

If I was at your position, I'd know something is wrong if people complain and I'd come up with an alternative like Sqlite for example.
I honestly thought guys at google think different!
Good luck with whatever!

Hi Alan

We currently ask for a credit card in order to validate accounts in order to prevent abuse and protect the service for all our users.
We know its not great, and we're looking at alternative mechanisms.

Well my friend, it's all about the money! Making the world a better place while promoting categorization?! Good luck with that google!
Microsoft had similar but yet better handled challenge where anyone had access to it, rich or poor, credit card no credit card no discrimination no categorization, talent is what matters!

I would like to enter #gcdc2013 challenge. I am making an app where i need to use mysql. But I cannot use cloud SQL without any credit card. I have no credit card.
Again there is a $2000 coupon for AppEngine, but even i want to use the coupon i need a credit card. Now what to do now?
